Message from Director Berry on Haiti Tax Relief: On Friday, January 22, 2010, the President signed into law an immediate tax deduction for Haiti charitable contributions. This legislation will allow taxpayers to receive the tax benefit from donations made to the Haiti effort in this tax season, rather than having to wait until they file their 2010 tax returns next year. If your Department or Agency conducted a special Haitian Relief solicitation as authorized by OPM on January 14th (see attached), please inform your employees of this tax benefit.
