Chief Human Capital Officer: Michael Anderson

Mr. Anderson serves as HUD's Chief Human Capital Officer.  He has led human capital organizations for 14 years.  Mr. Anderson servedas the senior human capital official at The Virginian-Pilot Media Companies, LLC (dba Pilot Media), the largest newspaper and digital media company in Virginia.  He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Mr. Anderson worked over 20 years in the media industry with companies specializing in print, digital, cable television, database marketing, and internet services.   He has led and managed operations at the local, national and international levels.

Mr. Anderson also worked in cable television for The Weather Channel and The Travel Channel.  He was Vice President of Business Affairs for InfiNet, an Internet services company.  He also led and operated two startups and performed several business turnarounds.  Mr. Andersonserved six years as a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps.

Mr. Anderson received a BS in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech, MBA and law degrees from The University of Virginia, where he was the first African-American to serve on the Managing Board of The Virginia Law Review.  He did his doctoral studies in Organizational Leadership at Regent University. He served on several nonprofit boards, including Vice President of The Board of Trustees of The Williams School in Norfolk, VA, Chairman of Norfolk United Facing Race, Advisory Committee of Young Life Urban of Hampton Roads, The United Way of South Hampton Roads, The Tidewater Chapter of The Red Cross, The Norfolk Chamber of Commerce‚Äôs Mediation Center, and The Hampton Roads Health Coalition.
