Sherri McGee became the Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer and the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Human Capital Management in August 2012. In addition to supporting the work of NASA’s Chief Human Capital Officer, she provides executive leadership in the development, implementation and oversight of NASA’s Office of Human Capital Management programs, policies and standards that support the Agency’s workforce. This includes working with stakeholders and Centers to develop, deploy, and manage Agency wide programs that support a consistent, efficient, and responsive human capital program, as well as the establishment and management of the Office of Human Capital Management resources, requirements, and associated milestones.
Prior to her current appointment, Sherri served as the Director of the Workforce Management and Development Division in the Office of Human Capital Management, overseeing training and leadership development, human resources, and executive resources policy and programs for the Agency, and as a Senior Human Resource Development Specialist in agency leadership development.
Sherri started her career at NASA in 1986, enjoying positions of increasing responsibility in the Agency’s Education Program. Prior to joining the Office of Human Capital Management in 2003, she served as the Assistant Director for Administration for NASA’s Education Program, directing, managing, and supervising all aspects of the Program’s day-to-day activities including oversight of a $61M budget.
Before coming to NASA, she held positions in higher education administration at George Washington University and Mount Vernon College in Washington, DC and at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. Sherri earned her BS degree in business administration from Meredith College and her MA degree in higher education administration from George Washington University.
She has received numerous awards, including the NASA Medal for Exceptional Service, the NASA Creative Management Award, two NASA Headquarters Exceptional Performance Awards, and the National Association for Women in Education’s Hilda A. Davis Award for Educational Leadership and the Leadership for a New Century Award.
