Christine M. Major currently serves as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS) for Administration. In this role, Ms. Major supports the Assistant Secretary for Administration portfolio which includes: human resources, equal employment opportunity compliance and operations, information technology, business transformation, security and strategic information, and the HHS Program Support Center (PSC). Ms. Major was designated as the Senior Accountable Official for the 2016 HHS implementation of the SES Reform Executive Order

Christine M. Major has over 25 years of experience in the Human Resource field at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).   Prior to her role as PDAS, she served as the Director of Human Resources for the National Institutes of Health. Ms. Major directed the activities of five separate divisions and over 300 staff members, comprising the full range of Human Resource functions including recruitment, HR Systems, employee/labor relations, benefits, policy and training and development.   

Ms. Major holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland.
