As the Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer (DCHCO) for HR Policy and Planning, Ms. Hannah is responsible for the development, execution and oversight of customer-focused HR management policies, guidance and programs affecting over 380,000 civilian employees in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).  Ms. Hannah’s portfolio covers a wide spectrum of Human Capital Management, to include Recruitment, Classification, Compensation, Employee Relations, Performance Management and Work Life and Benefits.

Ms. Hannah has over 35 years of experience as a Human Resources professional in various positions with the Department of Defense (DoD), Departments of Army and Navy, Department of Commerce, and NASA.  Prior to joining the VA, Ms. Hannah served as the DoD Director of Strategic Recruitment where she developed and implemented an innovative enterprise-wide outreach and recruitment program to attract top talent to fill mission critical occupations.  In 2005, Ms. Hannah developed and implemented the DoD Hiring Heroes Program, which placed special emphasis on assisting wounded warriors and veterans in their search for employment. Under her leadership, 94 Hiring Heroes Career Fairs were conducted around the globe. 

Ms. Hannah is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Secretary of Defense Award in recognition for leading a “Force of the Future” team, Department of Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, Special Act Awards for developing the Hiring Heroes Program and the DoD Student Training and Academic Recruitment (STAR) Program, and the Army Transportation Corps Honorable Order of Saint Christopher medal.
