Leadership Conference Call on Feds Feed Families

One year ago this month, President Obama signed the Serve America Act into law and created “United We Serve,” calling on all Americans to contribute to the nation’s economic recovery by serving in their communities. In response to this call, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Chief Human Capital Office (CHCO) Council formed a partnership through the “Feds Feed Families” food drive campaign. The campaign successfully collected over 1 Million pounds of food from Federal employees across the country for those families in need. This year, the need is as urgent as ever, and I’m asking you once again to answer the call to feed America’s hungry through Feds Feed Families 2010.

During the months of June, July and August 2010, our goal is to collect 1.2 million pounds of food for donation to various food banks around the country. As you know, both the scope of this task, and the rewards that are reaped, are enormous. Meeting our goal will require the highest level of collaboration, cooperation and coordination among all participating agencies.

To prepare for the 2010 kick-off, I am requesting that you participate in a 20 minute Leadership Conference Call to discuss the leadership and support needed for this year’s campaign to be successful.

The invitation to the conference call is forthcoming from Executive Director of the CHCO Council Kathryn M. Medina.  Thank you in advance for your partnership on this Government-wide initiative.
