The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has developed an online course entitled, “Executive Excellence and Wellness through Strategic Leadership.” The course provides senior leaders with valuable knowledge, strategies and resources on how to use their strategic leadership skills in their work and personal lives to achieve executive excellence and wellness. The course reinforces the critical need for Federal executives to focus their strategic leadership on organizational and personal goals, and to align resources and activities to those priorities. OPM developed this course for cross-Governmental use as an effort to support the mission-effectiveness of Federal agencies through shared resources and economies of scale.
The course has a 20-minute teaching component and integrates several multimedia elements to increase and enhance interactivity. These multimedia elements include video clips of Stephen Shih, Deputy Associate Director, Senior Executive Service and Performance Management, OPM; quotes from current and former Senior Executive Service members who share their perspectives and advice about strategic leadership and work/life balance; and a personal strategic planning tool for senior leaders.
This course is provided to agencies at no cost on the “Manager’s Corner,” an HR University (www.hru.gov) portal for all Federal leaders. Agencies can also upload the course to their learning management systems (LMS).
